Portrait of a debut indie author one week from her book release:
Drowning in content production. I’m up to 2 posts x 2 platforms every day, which some would say is not enough, but is the most I’ve ever kept up with consistently.
Preparing for my Book Shower this weekend: making shower accessories (a crown and sash, of course), gathering party decor, testing out Google Meet Pro options, baking a cake, practicing reading stories, and planning out the schedule of activities. Yes, most people will be on video, not in my home, but it’s still a shower and there will still be gift opening and silly games but also reading from my book so it’s a bit of a book launch party as well.
Signing, wrapping, boxing, and mailing 36 book orders from friends. I’m amazed at that number. I had to keep ordering more books to have enough- what a great problem to have. My friends got a personalized signed copy and I got to keep more money per book than if they’d bought it from a store.
Basking in 4- and 5-star reviews on Instagram and Goodreads!
Recording my first author interview! Kelly Jarvis of The Fairy Tale Magazine invited me to be the next guest on their video series of Author Talks. She had very thoughtful questions which made it so fun to talk about my own book. The video and the review will be on FTM soon!
Freaking out over my dream media opportunity coming true! My favourite fairy tale podcast asked me to be a guest- before I could ask them! I won’t say which podcast yet, lest I jinx it, but I am beyond excited!
Perfecting my media pitch email with the help of my comms work bestie. I think I have a good chance of getting on the radio show that I do film reviews for since they know me, but I’ve also reached out to other local media.
Still working a full-time job and job searching for more because one book won’t pay the bills!
Fun stuff for you:
Get a sense of each story in the book with the Official Book Playlist (Apple Music, Spotify) or vibe with feminine rage for hours on end with the Official Vibes Playlist (Apple Music, Spotify).
Decorate your digital space with Ebony, Blood, and Snow wallpapers:

Order your copy from anywhere online (Amazon will have paperbacks April 8, just won’t list for pre-orders) and please review on Goodreads (or any of the new book apps) and Amazon or wherever you bought it!
Follow me on Instagram and TikTok for book teases and, after the book launch dies down, more fairy tale content.
Building an email list is the most important platform an indie author can have in a world of untrustworthy social media companies, so please consider sharing Tales with Tish with a friend who loves fairy tales!
Next time you read me, I’ll be a *published* author!
