springing forth 🌕 full moon letter
Finally, some things to look forward to...
Dear Moon,
I haven’t seen you lately, but you’re called Pink this month, so I hope you’re living your best girlie pop life up there. 💖
I’ll skip over the ongoing stress of (lack of) money, to the better feeling of hope that Spring is giving me. Well, at this point, it’s not so much spring as the waning of winter that is nice. The snow is mostly melted, and the temperatures are staying above freezing. Someday the grass will turn green, and some flowers will pop up. Someday…
I’ve named my pigeon neighbours Thelma and Louise. Louise is shy, but I often catch Thelma on the balcony railing. I hope they have babies this spring.
Well, I’m still un(der)employed, but I did work in March. I joined a panel on the topic of Sexualized Violence in Art (supporting Erin Galt’s art exhibit) at a market/event for International Women’s Day weekend. And, of course, IFFO is in March. I got to hang out with one of my favourite filmmakers (Sophie Bédard-Marcotte) and The Gaze talk about A Useful Ghost went great—including our own possessed vacuum heheh. And, although it was weird to be around for events that I wasn’t running1 and just keep my mouth zipped when I saw something going not as I would do it… It was nice to have the festival experience without the physical and mental burnout.
In other ‘looking forward to something’ news: I got accepted to host a lecture for a new event series, Tipsy Scholars, that hosts lectures from experts in bars. Because learning is fun and social! I’ll be introducing everyone to my faves: Madame d’Aulnoy and the Salonierres. And I’ll be doing another fairy tale-related lecture every couple of months with them! And I got accepted to host my fairy tale retelling workshop at the Eastern Ontario Writers Festival in September—as well as a vendor spot!2
It’s no joke when I say winter was holding me back—I finally have life to look forward to!3

Creations
13x13 logs: January and February
I don’t know what to do with these or how to ‘promote’ them (if I want to at all) because they’re not exactly ‘on brand’, but I’ve been capturing life on video more lately and enjoying the feeling of making art out of everyday life, like I used to in my younger days… So I came up with this idea of 13 13-second4 clips to represent my month. I’ll do one of March soon, and may even go back to past times in my life (like my October trips), of which I have lots of beautiful video but never did anything with it.
Remember when I used to post Tiny Tales on Instagram and then Substack? It’s actually the project that made me start the Tales with Tish Instagram account, which created a space for me to create this fairy tale and writing brand/community. Well, I haven’t done one in a while, but watch out because I’m bringing it back, and bringing you into it! It starts next week… you’ll see…
Curiosities
Jenny Nicholson with another completely unnecessary deep-dive into something I’d never know or care about otherwise: My Favourite Twilight Knockoff
I have had a lot more curiosity-driven internet dives lately, but they’re in the name of an upcoming project, which I’ll announce soon!
Consumptions
I watched my friend Jonathan’s Japan vlog while walking on my walking pad, and it was like my own personal walking tour of Japan: Japan Trip 2025 - Joke About the Outcomes You Want
I had a Studio Ghibli Sunday:
Kiki’s Delivery Service reminds me that everyone hits creative blocks, and the only cure is rest
Howl’s Moving Castle made me realize Howl’s wardrobe is kinda my dream wardrobe, and I could easily cosplay as him?
My Neighbour Totoro made me long for summer days of grass, wind, blue skies, and the freedom of frolicking through a forest.
Cards
For this moon’s reading, I chose a ‘renewal’ spread, perfect for Springtime. And I chose a deck I don’t go to often: The Southern Gothic Oracle.5 The spread told me that emotions are draining my energy, which I feel has been happening when I ruminate on past—or hypothetical—situations that don’t deserve my emotional energy. Silence and solitude restore my vitality: duh. And the way to renew my sense of purpose is to use my unique voice. Apt, as I am literally using my voice to record my audiobook these days. This reading was more of a confirmation of vibes than anything thought-provoking.
Whatever season you’re in, I hope you can enjoy it for what it is and look forward to what’s next,

My previous full-time job there included supervising the box office and more.
I dunno if I’m allowed to announce either of those upcoming things yet, so maybe just be chill about it and be happy for me without blabbing? lol
Now, if I could just get some money…
I get 13-second clips when I get a nice video, because it seems like a good length, and it’s my favourite number.
I held a grudge against this deck because the first time I used it, I didn’t like what it told me, and I also didn’t connect to the cards’ meanings. (I still think it’s a bit too much about the symbol and not enough about what the card means to me.) I picked this deck up as a souvenir of visiting the place furthest south I’d ever been: Northwest Arkansas. I was there for the Bentonville Film Festival, which was held, in part, in an art gallery, so I visited the gift shop one day and picked this out.
Footnote on the footnote: I know that’s not even that far south, but you know what? It might be the furthest south I’ll ever go, as I got 20 years of sun damage in one week, despite my generous application of high SPF sunscreen, and I just cannot handle the heat.

Those upcoming events sound really good. Congratulations! Looking forward to another tiny tale, and hurray for retreating winter!
