My debut fairy tale-inspired short story collection, Ebony, Blood, and Snow, is now available for pre-order online!
A very exciting publishing step occurred at 6:22 pm on Saturday, January 18: I uploaded my book files to IngramSpark and Amazon KDP!
After a couple of hours of back-and-forth making file adjustments, I finally got a green acceptance message from IngramSpark. I had to dance it out I was so excited! 🕺🏻 It was the final (ish?) step in making my book real!
And then I opened my reward I’d been saving for the moment; a new oracle deck, of course.
Self-gifting aside, obviously, the really exciting and important part of this book update is to tell you that my book is now available for pre-order!
It’s still rolling out to some stores (lookin’ at you, Waterstones 😠), so you may not find it everywhere yet, but Ingram will distribute it just about everywhere you can think of- soon, I hope. So far, Barnes & Noble is the only major seller that has both paperback and ebook listed. Amazon1, unfortunately, doesn’t list its own paperbacks for pre-order. Indigo (Kobo) has the ebook listed.
It’s also on Goodreads and Fable, so you can add it to your TBR lists! (Waiting on Storygraph…)
It was a very exciting step, a sort of relief at the end of editing… Then I got my proof copy from Amazon. 😬 The editing never ends.
Nah, it’s not that bad. I found one formatting error and then read through the entire book to catch minor fixes like starting dialogue on a new line (I’m so bad at that- I just want to stick dialogue in the middle of a paragraph lol). Uploading new files with the fixes won’t change the pre-order listings, no worries. And thankfully, my cover looks great! (I mean, Amazon sticks a grey “Not for Resale” banner across it, so I feel I haven’t truly seen my book yet, but basically, there’s nothing wrong with the cover, and the matte finish was the right choice.)
Thank you for following along with me in my writing and publishing journey (so far- it’s far from over).
Soon, I will hold a real book in my hands (after I upload the new files and order some author copies). And then you will, too! If you want… no pressure…
Oh- another important update:
The publish date is April 8, 2025.
Over the almost two years I’ve been writing and getting ready to publish this book, I’ve picked out many dates I thought would be the publish date (I was so young and naive), and one of them was April 8, 2024- the date of the eclipse. I realize now that that would have been a terrible day to release as the eclipse dominated social media, and all media, as well as being a busy day for me as I went with my dad to see the eclipse, and it was actually a Monday, when the standard for book release is Tuesday. (I mean, I can do whatever I want as my own publisher, but let’s go with the industry standard on some things.) Not to mention my book wasn’t done, of course. But I was hoping for a significant date- like when I thought maybe I’d be ready for December 13, 2024- a Friday the 13th. So, April 8 doesn’t mean anything, sadly, except that it’s a good date. It gives me a couple of months of pre-order hype time, and it is after my busy film festival season in March.
Mark your calendars! Your twisted feminine rage fairy tale adventure begins April 8!
Okay, we’ll keep workshopping copy…
Onto the marketing phase. Send thoughts and prayers. (I hear they work.)

I know we hate daddy bezos and some people are boycotting- fair enough. But keep in mind that the ‘zon actually has the best royalty rates for indie authors through its self-publishing platform Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), so it remains maybe the best way to support indie authors (aside from buying direct from them, which I’m not doing yet, or if they share their preferred store for you to buy from). So maybe consider a boycott except for indie authors. Like a vegan who eats bacon- it’s okay. It doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing to make a difference.
So excited for you! Huge, huge congratulations. 🎉 💖 🦄
Just pre-ordered the Kindle version via the U.S. Amazon site (even though - as you said - Bezos is a bozo). Will keep an eye out for when the hard copy is available as well.
Happy dancing it out!!
